Gotta love Google. Did you know that those sharp folks have automatic PDF-to-text conversion which allows PDF-based content to be indexed and searched via the search engine? Since most PDF documents cannot be indexed, most search engines have been oblivious to the content of the millions of PDF files available on the Web. Not Google. Do a standard search on your topic of interest, say “marketing,” and if a PDF document matches that search, Google will provide a link to the PDF itself, and to Google’s HTML version. We’ve found it works best if you add the term “PDF” to your search query, as in “marketing PDF.” Try it! [WDFM Annotation]
Editor’s Note: This review refers to using the regular Google interface but I have used the link to the advanced search, which lets you search ONLY PDF files, or for that matter, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Powerpoint, etc.
