Anita Borg is a living legend among computer scientists. She is also leading a worldwide movement to redesign the relationship between women and technology. Some of the world’s most powerful technology companies are finally paying attention.
Aside from being known for her pioneering work in fault-tolerant operating systems and for tools she developed to predict the performance of microprocessor memory systems, Borg also cofounded, with Telle Whitney, the Grace Hopper Celebration of Women in Computing, a prestigious conference for women in computer science. She also created Systers, one of the world’s oldest global electronic networks of women in computer science, connecting more than 2,500 women in 25 countries.
