The seventh and final chapter of The Talent Powered Organization maps out a talent agenda that is based on the five imperatives set out in the preceding chapters, and which will advance progress toward achieving high performance. The agenda is strategic and long-term, presenting a “call to action” to an organization’s leadership as a primary audience, but also to other stakeholders, reiterating that talent management is a collective responsibility.
While there is no simple formula to becoming a talent-powered organization, five key principles stand out:
1. Talent is the single most important force creating strategic value for your organization.
2. Diversity is your biggest asset.
3. Learning and skills development are critical organizational capabilities.
4. Engagement is the key to high performance.
5. Talent multiplication is everyone’s job.
For each principle, the authors identify the top tasks for critical stakeholders and emphasize the “must-dos” for organizational leaders, line managers, functional departments and external stakeholders such as government and regulators. Through each section, it becomes clear how to set the virtuous cycle of talent multiplication in motion.
