The key to success in medicine is to match the right cure to the right ailment. Similarly, a strategic business initiative is only as good as its appropriateness to the landscape into which it is introduced. In this Working Paper, Professor Steven White proposes a framework for describing this landscape in order to understand better why problems arise, how solutions are generated, and why certain outcomes – not always those intended – emerge.
